Rick Scott was elected Governor of the great State of Florida in 2010. As promised during his campaign, Scott is focused on creating jobs and turning Florida’s economy around. Gov. Scott is a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served on active duty aboard the USS Glover. Following graduation from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a degree in business administration, Gov. Scott earned a law degree from Southern Methodist University. Gov. Scott started Columbia Hospital Corporation which grew to become the world’s largest health care company with more than 340 hospitals, 135 surgery centers, and 550 home health locations in 37 states. At the time, Columbia was the 7th largest U.S. employer.
Gov. Scott is known as an innovator in business, health care, and politics. As the 45th Governor of Florida, he has promoted job creation, education, tax cuts, and the reduction of government spending. Gov. Scott resides in Naples, Florida with his wife Ann, his high school sweetheart. They have two grown daughters.
