Director & Fire Chief (retired)
Martin Senterfitt, “Marty”, comes to the Florida Keys after retiring in 2016 from Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department after a 28 year career, where he served as both the County Emergency Management Director and as the Fire Chief. Marty has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of North Florida and is an active member of the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association.
On a personal note, Marty is married to his better half, Missy, and they have three wonderful adult children, Amanda, Justin, and Aaron.
Professionally, Marty became enthralled with Emergency Management after working multiple hurricanes in the now infamous 2004-2005 hurricane season. He responded to Mississippi in 2005 for Hurricane Katrina, worked at the State EOC for Hurricane Wilma, and represented the State of Florida at the Mobile, Alabama Command Post during the Deepwater Horizons Oil Spill.
