This one-day course is an introduction to the National Hurricane Center’s forecast procedures and products, and FEMA’s National Hurricane Program’s tools for how to incorporate them into planning and response. Topics include hurricane basics, forecast uncertainty, and NHC and NWS products. This course also covers the storm surge hazard, readiness checklists, decision aids, and evacuation planning. This course is intended for persons responsible for developing or revising hurricane preparedness plans and procedures for businesses, government agencies and coastal communities.
