TS08. Hurricane Impacts-They’re Much Bigger Than the Cone

This session will leverage historical accounts of known impacts from recent tropical systems relative to their original forecast track and cone of uncertainty.  Past storms include: Hurricane Charley, Matthew, Irma, Michael, Dorian, Ian and Nicole.  At select times/locations and with 20/20 hindsight, the session will promote interactive discussions and exercises on “potential impacts” for which community preparations should be made using the information at hand. The group challenge is to consider effective decision-making and subsequent messaging for “getting the right people to do the right things at the right times.”
