WS142. Safe Sheltering of Vulnerable Populations in Hurricane-Pandemics: A Data-Analytical and Socio-Technical Decision-Making Framework

Researchers will discuss their results and findings from a project funded through the National Science Foundation bringing together investigators from engineering and social science. Focus includes developing a data analytical and qualitative decision-making framework for safe sheltering of vulnerable populations during concurrently occurring hurricane-pandemics. Through the use of data analysis occurring during Hurricane Sally along with a Florida centric survey- preliminary findings will be discussed and presented.  Conversations will measure challenges emergency management officials face during co-occurring hurricanes and pandemics, strategies for preparedness, and providing service to socially vulnerable populations.
