Cris holds the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorology (CBM) Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. He is an active member of the American Meteorological Society, National Weather Association and NAHJ (National Association of Hispanic Journalists).
Meteorology has been a passion for Cris ever since his childhood in South Texas. As he experienced all types of weather events ranging from thunderstorms to hurricanes, he knew he’d found his calling in studying and forecasting the weather.
Cris began his career in Corpus Christi, Texas after graduating from Texas A&M University in College Station with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. He then moved to Victoria, Texas where he was the co-anchor and morning show meteorologist of KAVU-TV. Staying busy, Cris also worked as weekend meteorologist for KENS 5 in San Antonio and KIAH in Houston. Eventually Cris made the decision to head to Central Florida, where he was the morning meteorologist and traffic anchor at WOFL-TV in Orlando. Before arriving at WPBF 25, Cris was the Severe Weather Meteorologist in Atlanta at WGCL, where he won the Associated Press award for Best Weather Reporting for his coverage of Hurricane Isaac.
Cris loves giving back to the community by being active with many organizations. He has been affiliated with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, March of Dimes, American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, and the Alzheimer’s Association.
