Dear Media Partner,

Welcome to the 31st Annual Governor’s Hurricane Conference!

1921206_10203666788177388_2139195801530230315_oGHC’s week-long conference will be held this year at the Palm Beach Convention Center, West Palm Beach, Florida. The dates for this year’s conference are Sunday through Friday, May 14-19, 2017.

This year’s theme, “Preparedness Works!” provides attendees an opportunity to focus on the many significant changes in hurricane planning and new methods to best prepare Floridians for a hurricane or tropical storm.

I invite you to join emergency managers and personnel, first responders, state, federal, volunteer agency, business and industry representatives along with health and medical professionals from around the state, nation and world as they come together during the week’s scheduled 40+ training sessions, 45+ workshops and panel discussions to train and learn from each other.

As in past years, the Media Room will be an important offering as part of our conference. We are here to help you and your media organization make the best use of your time and resources for coverage of activities throughout the week.

To better serve your needs, I would like to inquire if your media organization is planning to cover the conference. Please visit our website at so you and / or those designated to cover the conference may pre-register. You will find a fill-in-the-blanks form here on the Media Room page. There you will need to share:

  • Who is the primary point of contact I should speak with?
  • Please provide names, office phones / cell phones / email addresses
  • Dates you / your field producers, reporters and or camera persons plan to be at conference (Example: 1 day, 2 days, entire week, etc. Please name actual days if possible).
  • Technical and Parking Needs (Very important for me to know ahead of time – will accommodate as best possible)
  • If you are bringing a satellite truck, please contact Ann Rowe at

Your input / feedback will help me and our volunteer public information officer staff greatly in providing the best service to your organization now, and throughout the conference week.

Again, please take a moment, pre-register and send me your media organization’s best guess in terms of what you anticipate your plans will be.

GHC Media Room staff will provide journalists:

  • workspace areas
  • access to Wi-Fi (VPN card needed for internet access) to file stories
  • fax / copier machine

All current information about conference training sessions, workshops, roundtable discussions and general sessions are available via the Program page of this site.
