WS102 From Trees to Tenants and Home Repairs: Navigating Legal Issues that Impact Recovery

PBCCC 1B/1C

This workshop equips nonprofit staff, community leaders, and recovery partners to help disaster survivors navigate common legal challenges. Through engaging videos and practical presentations, participants will explore real-world scenarios and actionable solutions. Topics include landlord–tenant issues like rent obligations and eviction risks, fallen tree disputes, and contractor–homeowner challenges such as scams, incomplete repairs, and unfair contracts. Each segment combines a short video with guided discussion to clarify legal principles, identify red flags, and connect survivors with reliable legal aid. By blending storytelling, visuals, and practical guidance, the workshop helps recovery workers reduce legal risks and strengthen long-term recovery support.
